Electromagnetic shock energy harvester for a remote wireless switch

Abstract:An electromagnetic shock energy harvester was studied systematically for realizing the self-powered operation of a remote wireless switch.Two kinds of harvesters were proposed, which were installed with E and U-shaped iron core, respectively.The working mechanism was discussed.The ANSYS Maxwell was used to analyze the flux distribution, output voltage and power of the two harvesters.The harvesters’ optimized sizes were studied and a prototype with an E-shaped iron core was fabricated and measured.The results show that the harvester can generate 12 V electric voltage and 0.66 mJ electric power.A wireless switch, powered using the harvester, has transmitted 18 ms, 1.1 kHz square wave, and lighted up a LED on the wireless receiver.
