Abstract: Based on its dynamic model, the source power of a meshing gear pair with time-varying mesh stiffness and backlash nonlinearity is studied. The time domain simulation arithmetic of vibratory powerflow is deduced. And factors essentially deciding the system powerlow level are revealed. Through utilizing the method of point mapping and cell mapping, the characteristic of powerflow and bifurcation of the system are compared and analysed with different mesh parameters changing continuously. The important influence of some parameters’ alteration on powerflow is summarized, to provide some reference on the application of theory of powerflow to analysis of nonlinear vibration of gear systems.
