Abstract:Abstract: The crack model based on local flexibility has received attractive attention in engineering. However, the study on the local flexibility of pipe with a crack that has an arbitrary angle is scarce. The local flexibility equations of the pipe with a part-through crack that subjected to axial force, shearing force and bending moment were deduced from theories of linear fracture mechanics taking into the effect of the angle of crack on the local flexibility of pipe account. An adaptive Simpson method was used to obtain the flexibility coefficients of cracked pipe and the results of Naniwadekar’s experiment was used to validate the proposed approach. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach to local flexibility is accurate, which is suitable for vibration analysis of pipe-like structure with an arbitrary angle crack.
