Abstract:Targeted energy transfer in a system of two-degree-of-freedom coupled nonlinear oscillators is investigated. Based on the slow-flow dynamics of the original system, the relation between complete energy change and the initial conditions is derived in the first part of the research. Numerical simulation shows that the initial energy required for complete energy exchange between the two oscillators can be calculated precisely using the formula derived; and the initial energy required for optimal targeted energy transfer also can be approximately estimated under the assumption of small damping.
