Abstract:Using the cues of interaural time differences (ITD) and interaural intensity differences (IID), the humans auditory system implements sound source orientation. Of course, it is difficult for mechanical vibration signal to recognize the location of source. However, the mechanism of auditory system can be simulated to extract the features from two channels signals. To analysis shaft orbit, a binaural auditory model is proposed which consists of two same monaural auditory model. In each monaural auditory model, a signal is processed by basilar model, inner cells model and lateral inhibitory model in turn. The outputs of binaural auditory model, ITD and IID are calculated on the basis of the output of two monaural auditory model. Five different shaft orbit are analyzed by proposed model, the results show that the ITD and IID are different for different shaft orbit, and the data quantity can ensure redundancy of features information and is suitable for intelligent recognition. In addition, the experiments results show that the binaural auditory model has ability to indicate weak signal components.
