Abstract:The water hammer pressure generated by liquid sloshing in the braking process of tank truck has a great impact on the tanker safety. Based on this point, the process of liquid sloshing in the braking process of tank truck was simulated by volume of fluid (VOF) model of FLUENT, the influence of liquid filling ratio,density and viscosity on the water hammer pressure of tanker during the braking process was studied.Research shows that the liquid filling ratio increases, the water hammer pressure of tank truck increases firstly and decreases afterwards, the maximum value appears when the liquid filling ratio is 0.85.Moreover,the water hammer pressure caused by liquid sloshing increases with liquid density but decreases with viscosity. Compared with the maximum stress of liquefied gas tank container calculated by JBT4781-2005 standards ,the maximum stress calculated by the hammer pressure in the actual braking process of tank truck can be increased by 55.3%. The strength design should be based on the water hammer pressure caused by liquid sloshing in the actual braking process of tank truck.
