Correlation Experiment Research of Transmission Gear Whine and Vibration of End of Line

Abstract:Selecting two measurement positions on the EOL of vehicle transmissions according to the transfer paths theory of gear vibration, the mesh vibration of the two positions of 20 transmissions were measured on the test rig. The noises and vibration of the speeds mesh orders were measured on vehicles. The subjective evaluation of gear whine was also done by professional NVH engineers. According to the correlations of vibration of EOL, noises and vibration of gear mesh orders on vehicles, the optimum measurement position on EOL and the vibration amplitude critical values of acceptable gear whine on vehicles were determined by using the strong correlations results. This research can identify the gear whine and vibration characteristics of transmissions correctly and effectively.
