Extraction and Synthesis Method of Typical Road Sections

Abstract: It’s reviewed that the components of measurement system of road surface data and pre-processing methods of road surface profile in automotive test. Based on the measurement data of road surface profile, there are some characteristic parameters of road surface profile which are extracted, including the basic statistics (Mean and Standard Deviation), International Roughness Index (IRI) and the parameters of Power Spectrum Density (PSD). After the introduction of extraction methods of characteristic parameters of road profiles, using the Radar Chart as the analytical tool, there is a new extraction and synthesis algorithm of typical road sections which was proposed. As an example, the actual measurement road surface data in Beijing was calculated and compiled statistics. Their characteristic parameters of road profiles were extracted and the typical road sections were synthesized. The extraction and synthesis results show that the typical road sections have obvious effect and can represent characteristics of the region. Finally, the extraction and synthesis method of typical road sections is summarized and the prospect of its application is presented.
