Review on the Drive and Control Technology of High-speed Motorized Spindle System

Abstract:High-speed motorized spindles are the core component of CNC machine tools, the spindle unit fuses several key technologies such as high-speed motors, precision bearing, drive and control. The drive and control technology of the high-speed spindle motor is the key factor for determining the dynamic and static performance of the spindle. Thus, it is so necessary to make a systemic analysis and in-depth summarization on the existing drive and control technologies of the spindle motors. By the history of the development of control technology, the analysis and com-mentary are carried out from V/F control, vector frequency conversion control, direct torque con-trol to hybrid-drive control and intelligent control one by one. On this basis, the objective ques-tions of these control technologies are summarized and a comparative analysis is reviewed, fur-thermore,the future development tendency of the drive and control technologies of high-speed motorized spindle is predicted and prospected finally.
