Abstract:In this paper, multi-span continuous beam is modeled as a weakly coupled Euler-Bernoulli beam system by using the finite element method. The system dynamic response was obtained by using Newmark direct integration method under external excitation force. In the process of structural damage identification, the reduction in elemental flexural rigidity is used as the damage parameters. The homotopy equation is constructed by least squares method iteratively. Study shows that the convergence of the method does not depend on the choice of the initial value. And this method can be able to identify damage of multi-span structure with repeated natural frequencies accurately. The effect of artificial measurement noise on the identified results is also discussed. Numerical simulation shows that the proposed method can detect the damages quickly and effectively in the weak coupled beam system, and the proposed method is found to be insensitive to the measurement noise.
