Research on low frequency chatter suppressing of high speed magnetic suspension motor and based on software time delay compensation

Abstract:Aiming at resolving the problem that a magnetic suspension rotor is instable because of low frequency chatter in high speed, it is analyzed and modeled from the control system’s computation delay and its effect on a power amplifier system in this paper. A software method used for compensating the control system computation delay is proposed in this paper, which can be utilized to eliminate the control system’s computation delay, improve the tracking ability of power amplifier’s current in high frequency and suppress the low frequency chatter of the magnetic suspension motor’s rotor in high speed. Related experiments were performed at 24000rpm for the 100kW magnetic suspension motor. The results of the experiments showed that the low-frequency gain of the magnetic suspension motor decreased by 20dB, and the chatter of it was reduced by 36.8μm. The control precision increased by 63.89%. The software method mentioned above can effectively suppress the low frequency chatter and improve the stability of the magnetic suspension motor in high speed.
