Numerical Analysis of Noise Induced by Vibration of Propeller Blades

Abstract:The noise of a propeller is of great importance in ship underwater noise, which will affect the stealth performance of ships. The noise of a propeller can be divided into two kinds due to their different causes. One is fluid-dynamic noise, and the other is the noise induced by the vibration of propeller blades. To calculate the noise induced by the vibration of propeller blades, first the numerical simulation of propeller open-water performance is calculated by means of CFD, then the harmonic response analysis of the propeller is accomplished by FEA method with the hydrodynamic load as the excitation, after then the outputs of the response from FEA are used as the boundary condition for BEA to obtain the acoustic radiation from the propeller blades.
