Abstract:Referring to the orthogonal experiment theory, five full sized Tuning Mass Damped Buckling-Restrained Brace (TMD-BRB) specimens were designed, manufactured and tested. The factors include work period, contact surface craft and springs layout. There are 3 levels with work period and 2 levels for the other two. Dynamic properties influencing factors, such as springs, the friction on the contact surface and force form, were investigated in detail. In addition, the performance of BRB in the related structure was test. The tests included free vibration, resonance tests on common seismic intensity and cyclic static tests. Spectral characteristics of Specimens, the change rule of dynamic coefficients and damping ratios, hysteretic curve were analysis. The results show that the specimen with symmetrical springs and wheels had a high tuning precision, strong TMD properties and standard index for the BRB performance. It can reach a constructional balance between the two composite earthquake (vibration) reduction functions.
