Seismic failure analysis of the Koyna gravity dam using cohesive elements

Abstract:By embedding cohesive interface elements inside solid finite element meshes, two-dimensional crack propagation of the Koyna gravity dam under earthquakes was simulated. The simulated cracking process and final crack pattern are compared favorably with experimental and numerical results available in the literature.
