In order to study ride comfort of heavy-duty automobile, a vibration model of 4 DOF half heavy-duty automobile based on the rigid-elastic synthesis of vehicle body is established by using elastic beam theory of equal section with both free ends. Frequency response characteristics of system and response variables based on front wheel are derived by the analysis method in frequency domain. The power spectral density and the root mean square value of response variables are determined. The corresponding simulation programs of ride comfort for heavy-duty automobile are developed based on the rigid-elastic synthesis model and the rigid model of vehicle body with Matlab. By comparing the simulation results of rigid model, it shows that vehicle body flexibility has a great impact on ride comfort of heavy-duty automobile and it cannot be ignored in ride comfort of heavy-duty automobile.
