Numerical Simulation of the Impact of the Blasting Vibration on Nearby Tunnel Lining Safety

Abstract:this paper established a numerical model of the impact of blasting on existing tunnel lining and put forward the simulation method of peak load, loading time and the waveform of blasting load. To achieve energy radiation and reduce boundary effects, viscoelastic boundary was defined. On this basis, the paper analyzed the impact of footage difference in blasting excavation and spacing difference of the tunnel on nearby tunnels. Results show that on the blast side of the existing tunnel, the arch and the sidewall are affected most significantly by the blasting. In the construction of the new tunnel, the greater the footage, the higher the velocity of the existing lining. Meanwhile,the larger the distance between the tunnels, the less impact blasting has on vibration velocity. Results also indicate that, according to "Blasting Safety Regulations", the vibration velocity derived from numerical simulation can be compared with the safe- standard vibration velocity to help determine the safety of the lining and provide reference and guidance for the design and construction.
