Feature Enhancement of Diesel Engine’ Piston-Cylinder Wear-out Fault Based on Teager Energy Operator

Abstract:The wear status of piston-cylinder is a main indication of diagnosing technical state of diesel engine and main condition for diesel engine’s overhaul. Diagnosis of piston-cylinder fault, especially which of early wear fault, is difficult because diesel engine’s structure is complicate and working mode is rude, so diagnosis of piston-cylinder fault is the emphasis and difficult point. According to the impulse feature of piston-cylinder’s wear, Teager operator’s advantage of extracting instantaneous impulse signal is adopted to analyze vibration signal sampled from left-top position of cylinder as diesel engine idling, and extracted maximum of Teager operator energy is used to diagnose the piston-cylinder fault and serious degree. Analyzing results of actual vibration signal of two different type diesel and different fault cylinder show that the method is simple and effective.
