Abstract:Abstract: It is well known that transmission tower-line systems are national important power engineering systems. Apparently, their security directly concerns the reliability of the operation of national power grids. Whereas wind loading is one of the key factors which impact the reliability. First, this paper introduces the future perspectives of both the EHV and UHV transmission lines in China. Then a comprehensive survey is given on the analytical models, dynamic characteristics, wind-induced dynamic responses, wind-induced vibration control, and so on. Likewise, numbers of issues to be studied are suggested. Eventually, this paper highlights the importance of downburst-resistant design of transmission tower-line systems. It is pointed that the study of downburst wind loads will provide the basis and guides for constructing the next wind tunnel emulating thunderstorm environment and downburst-resistant design of transmission tower-line systems; simultaneously give an important reference to both the design and implementation of wind-induced vibration control of transmission tower-line systems.
