Abstract According to the structure and installation of large vertical planetary transmission gearbox, the finite element model are established based on FEM to carry out the vibration modal analysis and calculate the modal frequency and stable unbalance response. The boundary element model of gear box’s surrounded sound field is established based on BEM to calculate and simulate the radiation sound pressure with the result of stable unbalance response. The results of testing and theoretical calculation are corresponding, which indicates the rationality and accuracy of theoretical calculation
