Abstract This paper provides an overview on the researches of coupling faults in rotor systems in recent years. These coupling faults mainly include crack coupled rub-impact, pedestal looseness coupled rub-impact, misalignment coupled rub-impact, oil film instability coupled rub-impact, etc. Combined with study developments of coupling faults, the research situation was summarized from the aspects, such as, dynamic model, nonlinear dynamic characteristics, fault diagnosis and model experiment. Some key problems for future study were also presented.
