Abstract Stress concentration factors(SCF) and fatigue life are two main aspects of studying fatigue behavior of tubular joints based on hot spot stress method. The eight welded composite tubular T-joints were tested under static loading to determine stress concentration factors at hot spot locations and were also tested under cyclic loading to obtain fatigue life data. compared with joints made of circular hollow section to square hollow section (CHS-SHS) T-joints, The test results indicate that the circular hollow section to concrete-filled square hollow section (CHS-CFSHS) T-joints exhibit evident improvements in rigidity distribution and better fatigue performance.compared with relevant codes, The test results indicate that S-N curves on hollow section tubes in relevant codes are not suitable for fatigue performance analyzing of CHS-CFSHS T-joints.
