Abstract To understand the generation mechanism and key factors of high frequency frictional squeal, a multi-flexible-body model of pin-on-disc system was established, by using HYPERWORKS and ADAMS based on FEM and MBS theories. The model was validated by rig test of the modeled pin-on-disc system. The impact of normal load ,friction coefficient and pin length on squeal was analyzed, it was found that, the squeal occurs only when the normal load, friction coefficient and pin length lies within certain range.
