Abstract By considering the effect of the nonlinear stiffness, a 2-DOF dynamic coupling nonlinear vibration model with cubic nonlinearity is proposed according to structural characteristics and nonlinear characteristics of tracked ambulances. For the case of primary resonance and 1: 1 internal resonance, multiple scale method is used to derive the average equation of damping system. By taking the parameters of a tracked ambulance, the average equation is obtained and the influence of the parameters of the damping system on damping effect is then analyzed. Finally, the motion stability of the damping system is discussed by using the singularity theory. It provides a theoretical basis for improving efficiency of the damping system.
