Abstract Based on analyzing the detection principle of the speech signal endpoint, the proposed speech endpoint detection method based on the short-time energy is applied to determination the arrival time of the acoustic emission signal, and the optical fiber F-P sensors with dual probe are used in the location experiment. Firstly, the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) method is used to filter the acoustic emission signal received by the optical fiber F - P sensor. Secondly, the arrival time of the acoustic emission signal is determined by the short-term energy method. Finally, the acoustic emission source is localized according to the difference of the arrival time. The experimental results show that the absolute location accuracy reaches 4.9 mm with the relative accuracy of 4.67%, which proves that this method is feasible, and satisfies the accuracy requirements.
