Abstract In order to overcome the shortcomings of the traditional wavelet transform in the signal decomposition, and according to the undecimated discrete wavelet transform theory, an undecimated discrete wavelet transform method based on lifting scheme is put forward. Then according to the fault characteristics of rolling bearings, a rolling bearing fault diagnosis method based on the undecimated discrete wavelet transform of lifting scheme is proposed. Moreover, an experiment on the ADBE-56-N4 AC machine is taken to actually measure the vibration signal of the 6305 rolling bearing under the condition of normal operation, the outer ring fault and the inner ring fault. The results shows that this method can diagnose the rolling bearing faults more effective than the traditional wavelet transform.
