Abstract A three-parameter isolation system has better performances at resonance peak and within higher frequency band than the traditional 2-parameter one does.Here, a design method for normalized 3-parameter isolation systems was proposed.A 3-parameter isolation system’s time domain response analytical form was derived under sinusoidal and step excitations.For sinusoidal excitation, resonance peak and high frequency decay rate were taken as objective functions to perform the multi-objective optimization design.For unit step excitation, adjusting time and overshoot were taken as objective functions to do parametric design.Compared with the traditional design method, it was shown that the proposed design method can deduce solutions to simultaneously satisfy all objective functions; the feasibility of this method is verified with several simulation examples.
