Abstract Wind tunnel tests were conducted to study the wind pressure on principal square prism adjacent to another one in tandem arrangement at attack angle 061616;. The interference effects on local fluctuating pressure of the principal building were analysed with different heights and positions of the interfering building .The results show that fluctuating pressure on the windward side of interfering building increases with the increase of spacing ratio for buildings of the same height. In particular, the fluctuating pressure at the leading edge and on top corner of windward side increases significantly and the value on the middle part of the windward face decreases. In addition, for buildings of the fixed position, the fluctuating pressure at the leading edge and on top corner of windward side increases with the increase of height ratio, but the value first increases and then decreases on the middle part of the windward face.
