Transmission line galloping intimidates the reliability and the stability of transmission lines. Computing the dynamic tension of ice accreted conductor induced by wind is one of the most important parts of galloping studies of transmission line. First of all, the theoretical formula of Galloping Conductor dynamic tension could be derived from the perspectives of energy balance and variation of conductor’s length. Then the numerical simulation model for the computation of tension variety provoked by galloping could be established. Taking the actual high-tension transmission line as an example, the outcome deduced by the theoretical results proved to be effective on comparing with the numerical results. Judge the application scope of the theoretical formula. The influence law of amplitude, half-wave number, span, elevation angle to dynamic tension was achieved by analyzing the results of theoretical and of numerical formula. This indicates that the proposal method in this paper is reasonable and has some reference value in analyzing the galloping.
