Abstract:This study proposed three strategies for reducing the powertrain and vehicle body vibration during the start and stop process of the engine. It is considered that increasing the damping of the mounting system can effectively reduce the engine start and stop vibrations, this paper developed a semi-active hydraulic damping strut (HDS). The study established a 13 DOFs dynamic model of the vehicle with semi-active HDS, and presented the dynamic response evaluation index and calculation method of the vibration of the powertrain and vehicle. The installation position of the semi-active HDS and the external channel size are optimized based on the design method of the powertrain mounting system. The size and quantity of the piston hole of the semi-active HDS are calculated and analyzed according to the calculation results of dynamic response evaluation index based on the force sharing method. The acceleration of the seat rail with and without semi-active HDS are compared experimentally in the process of engine start and at engine idle speed, which demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed semi-active HDS design method.
