NUMERICAL SIMULATION METHOD FOR BLAST FLOW AND DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF GLASS CURTAIN WALL

Abstract:The arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian method is applied to simulate dynamic interaction between explosive wave and complex curtain wall. Based on explicit finite element method and blast test, two-step simulation method is developed by using MPP LS-DYNA software on a high performance computing platform in order to improve computational efficiency in blast-structure problem. The dynamic response of glass in the curtain wall under blast loading is analyzed and numerical results are in agreement with the experiment. The analysis provides reference for the blast resistance design and improvement of curtain wall system. The presented method is shown to be a useful tool for documenting the blast response of curtain wall system and provides reference for the blast resistance design of curtain wall in the real-world explosive environment.
