Abstract:Abstract: The dynamic model of space tether deployment using Hamilton’s principle provides a way to study motion laws of drum releasing tether, tether vibration and end-mass moving during the tether deployment. Numerical simulation of tether free deployment is calculated using central differ-ence method, four-order Runge-Kutta method and predictor-corrector method and so on, the simula-tion results show that the model can accurately describe the complex nonlinear dynamic behavior of space tether system during deployment. Free deployment cannot meet the requirements of tether de-ployment stabilization, but the simulation data provide foundation for tether deployment control in further.
