Theory and Simulation Analysis for Penetration Overload on A Small Size Charge

Abstract:The impact characteristic of a small size charge was carried by projectile penetrating into concrete target was studied. In theory analysis model, small size charge was set in a non-inertia coordinate system.The absolute acceleration of charge was the vector sum of convected acceleration and relative acceleration. Based on stress wave theory, a relative acceleration calculation model of small size charge was presented in which the consistency condition in front of stress wave was utilized. The formula of penetration acceleration of the charge was derived. The relationship of charge relative acceleration and projectile mass points that contact with charge was carried out. The numerical simulation of a small size charge set in a projectile into concrete target was performed. The good agreement of analytical and numerical results was in general obtained. Theoretic reference and analytical methods were provided for deceleration characteristic evaluation of small size charges.
