Finite Element Analysis for Dynamic Meshing of Hypoid Gear

Abstract:The method to build finite element model for dynamic meshing analysis of hypoid gears was discussed. A reasonable finite element model was introduced. Based on the theory of nonlinear dynamics and finite element explicit algorithm, the characteristics of the hypoid gear in dynamic meshing was studied. Obtained the laws of gear motion, the contact area, the contact stress and the tooth root bending stress in the dynamic meshing of hypoid gear. Take the example of the two typical work factors like speed and load. The influences of speed and load on the dynamic meshing characteristics were discussed. The contrast research shows that the rotational speed has an obvious influence up on the characteristics of the hypoid gear in dynamic meshing, and that the influence of load is related to the rotational speed. As the rotational speed increases, the influence of the same load change on the dynamic meshing characteristics becomes gradually weakened.
