Abstract:The dynamic meshing characteristics of gear pairs play a critical role for the vibration mechanism study and the dynamic design of gear systems, and it is dependent on the influence factors like the change of meshing point, loaded elastic deformation and sliding friction among others. In this paper, the precise finite element analy-sis model of meshing gear pairs was established first. Then a dynamic contact finite element analysis method of the continuous and elastic meshing process of gears was presented, considering kinds of influence factors. And the dynamic meshing characteristics of gears with sliding friction, tooth profile modification and time-varying mesh-ing stiffness were analyzed both in high and low speed. The results show that the proposed dynamic contact FEA method is not only effective on investigation of the pitch point impact causing by sliding friction, and the influ-ence of the tooth profile modification on meshing impacts, but also effective on analyzing the parametric vibration characteristics of gears with time-varying stiffness. And the presented method would provide an effective tool for dynamic meshing characteristics of gear pairs.
