Defence method and suggestion for a single-layer kiewitt-8 reticulated dome under impact loads

Abstract:Research on defence method and suggestion of single-layer Kiewitt-8 Reticulated Dome under impact is conducted aiming at resisting global collapse of structure under impact. The FE models of single-layer Kiewitt-8 Reticulated Dome and the cylindrical impactor were developed incorporating ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Then numerical simulations of the dynamic behaviour of domes subjected to impact were conducted. And three defence methods, which are light roof, global reinforced and critical location reinforced, are put forward for reticulated dome under impact. Moreover, the defence effection is analysised. Based on the theory above, defence suggestion is put forward taking defence effection and cost into account.
