Study on local strain of active vibration control for smart structures using symmetric piezoelectric patches

Abstract:Abstract: For controlling the vibration piezoelectric actuators and sensors always have been bonded symmetricly on opposite sides of a thin plate or beam. In the experiment the piezoelectric sensor is affected by local strain so that the control performance will decrease when piezoelectric actuator excites.In order to furtherly study the local strain effect, a thin plate is analyzed for harmonic response by ANSYS.The voltage amplitude and phase of symmetry position sensing patch are compared to theoretically verify the local strain existence. Finally square wave excitation experiment and MCS algorithms vibration control experiment on the aircraft panel demonstrate the influence of local strain, which can provide a good foundation for further improving the active control effect.
