Abstract:Abstract: In this paper, the reconstruction algorithm for probabilistic inspection of damage (RAPID) is proposed for continuous on-line monitoring of composites based on wavelet analysis and the theory of probability and statistics. First, the wavelet analysis is applied to extract the features of the Lamb wave signals of the reference and present states on each sensing path. The difference coefficient between the features is called as a damage index (DI). Then, the probabilistic method is used to judge that the DI is caused by either the structural damage or the environmental factors. Finally, a tomogram generated by the RAPID algorithm is obtained to identify the damage. An experimental study on a composite panel with a 12-PZT sensor network is conducted and presented to verify the capability of the RAPID algorithm for damage identification. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is quite feasible and effective for composite structural damage identification. And also, it has certain application value for the practical engineering.
