Parameter Optimization for Compacting System of Asphalt Paver based on Response Surface Method

Abstract:Abstract: An experiment research on paver prototype showed that maximal amplitude along the length direction of screed was almost two times as the minimal amplitude. In order to decrease the difference between amplitudes in screed, the screed was thought as flexible body and coupled rigid and flexible model for compacting system of asphalt concrete paver was established; Mass of tampers and products of multiplying mass and eccentric distance of eccentric shaft were selected as optimization parameters, target was minimal difference between the amplitude in screed. Functional expression about optimization parameters and target was built through response surface method based on orthogonal design and numerical calculation. The optimization results showed that the difference between the amplitude in screed decreased by 83% after optimization and nonuniformity of amplitude in asphalt paver screed improved effectively.
