Research on fragment velocity and equivalent bare charge characteristic of cylindrical warhead

Abstract:The damage effect of warhead of anti-ship weapon on war-ship structure mainly includes the explosion fragments and shock wave, and these two aspects has certain correlation. In this paper, the expansion process of warhead under the inner pressure of detonation products is investigated. The velocity formula of fragments related to the strength of case material and characteristic parameters of charge is derived combing the stress criterion that the case forms fragments. On these bases, the expression of equivalent net charge related the size of charge is obtained through the investigation of moment during the radial expansion process of the charge. Finally, a calculation example is given combing the explosion experiment of cylindrical warhead.
