Suppressing flutter analysis of wind turbine blades based on co-curing damping layer structure

To improve large wind turbine blades’ suppressing flutter capacity, damping blade concept was proposed-blades with laminated composites with embedded viscoelastic layer; damping blades structural loss factor was derived based on energy method. Based on a 2 500kW turbine blade parameters and ONERA nonlinear aerodynamic theory, numerical simulation was conducted between ordinary and damping blades under four conditions(start up wind speed, rated wind speed, safe wind speed and limited wind speed). The results show that damping blades can significantly improve blades stability.
