Researches on its validation and application of the dynamic constitutive for continuous surface cap model

The special phenomenon that mechanical properties of soil are significantly dependent on the pressure and strain rate and effect of shear dilatation appears due to the formation of lots of micro-pore before shear failure can be described with Continuous Surface Cap Model, so it has been widely used. Through the projectile penetration model test and numerical method, it is demonstrated that Continuous Surface Cap Model can well simulate the dynamic response of soil in a certain range of impact load. Based on the validation, influences of different constitutive model and numerical algorithm on penetration depth were analyzed and the results show that (1) in the Continuous Surface Cap Model, numerical instability can be overcome in the low state of hydrostatic pressure and penetration velocity and what’more compared to the Soil and Foam model and the Drucker-Prager model, due to basically describe the mechanical properties of the soil, the results is more reasonable;(2) the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian algorithm have the advantages of Lagrange algorithm and Euler algorithm, so the mesh distortion and numerical difficulty and are overcome in simulation of the projectile penetration with the Multi Material Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (referred to as MM_ALE) algorithm, and besides calculation accuracy can be guaranteed, and the results correspond with the facts. The results are helpful to study strength and stiffness of warhead, stability of explosive during projectile into the ground and the effect of blast damage after projectile into the ground.
