Abstract:As the classic form of submarine, dynamic responses and damage characteristics of cylindrical shell structure has always been concerned by researchers. In this paper, the damage caused by underwater explosion load is studied through Double Asymptotic Approximations method. By plenty analysis of cases, we found that the damage mode could be classified by the cause, such as local strength failure caused by direct impact load, dynamic buckling of local components, circumferential buckling of shell structure, and axial buckling of shell structure caused by whipping responses. Besides, the shockwave and bubble pulsation load are the dominating factor for far and near underwater explosion case.
