Abstract:A contrastive method is applied to study the hydrodynamic character of marine suction box at shear layer between grids and no grids. The incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are taken as the control equation while the advanced turbulent model LES in CFX soft and the simple algorithm are used to carry out the numerical computation about the problem of flow induced oscillation. The numerical results show that the pattern of fluid at shear layers is more complex when the grids exist at box mouth. Additionally, a lot of small eddies shed continuously at leading-edge of box mouth, and moving continuously to trailing-edge. Moreover value of static pressure coefficient will increase owing to the grids and the fluctuating pressure coefficient will reduce, at the same time the frequency of shear layer present single-peaked value which is larger than the value without grids
