Based on the theoretical study of vibration attenuation mechanism of metal rubber damper under the random vibration and the theory of linear random vibration, combined with the nonlinear mechanical characteristics of metal rubber, a formula for the description of root-mean-square response acceleration of metal rubber damper system under random vibration was derived. Sine sweep experiment and random vibration experiment were performed to study the effect of preloading and vibration level on the vibration characteristics of metal rubber damper, the theoretical calculation results was compared with the experimental ones, and the range for the practical use was determined.
