Abstract:The fluid-solid interaction can not be neglected in the analysis of the membrane structures due to its sensitivity to wind. The flow is treated as incompressible and potential in this paper. Firstly, the wind pressure on the structure is determined by means of the boundary element method (BEM). Afterwards, the structure deformation under the pressure of wind is calculated and then the shape of the membrane structure is modified. Subsequently, using the BEM to calculate the wind pressure, one obtains the deformation of the structure under the pressure that time. This procedure is repeated until the solution is satisfied the convergence criteria. Typical examples have been analyzed which illustrate the method and demonstrate its efficiency and accuracy as compared with other numerical methods. The analysis of the wind-structure interaction has been performed with the method mentioned above, by considering parameters, such as rise-span ratio, prestress and the wind velocity. The results have practical application in wind resistant study and engineering.
