A simplified analysis method for a seismic behaviors of Y-type high strength steel composite eccentrically braced frames

Abstract：Shaking table tests of a 1∶2 scaled three-story Y-type high strength steel composite eccentrically braced frame (Y-HSS-EBF) were conducted to study its a seismic behaviors.A simplified seismic response analysis method for Y-HSS-EBF was proposed by using the multi-linear plastic Kinematic element in SAP2000 to replace braces,based on the restoring force model of Y-HSS-EBF and the simplified model of the replacing braces.The calculated results with the simplified analysis method were compared with the test ones and those with the finite element analysis method.The results indicated that the Y-HSS-EBF has good aseismic performances; the calculated hysteresis curves of the Y-HSS-EBF agree well with the test ones and the simplified analysis model can be used for the strucfure’s performances nonlinear analysis; the simplified calculation results of the shaking table test model has a certain level accuracy, so the simplified analysis method can be used for analyzing elastic and elastoplastic seismic responses of Y-HSS-EBF; the simplified seismic response analysis method can be applied in the preliminary design of Y-HSS-EBF.
