Abstract:Several problems in the seismic response analysis of soil layer with deep deposit have been discussed by ANSYS and LS-DYNA. It shows that some elements of impact on calculation accuracy, such as chosen of calculation scope of the soil layer, dividing of mesh elements, formation of damping matrix and so on by comparing the numerical results obtained from the general programs. Numerical examples demonstrate that the relationship between the fundamental frequency of the soil layer and the predominant frequency of the earthquake excitation is an important factor effecting calculation accuracy. When the former is smaller than the latter, especially much smaller than the latter, the proportional coefficients in the damping matrix should be determined by the two frequencies. The vertical and horizontal grid size and the selection of the artificial boundary have a significant influence on the calculation results.
