A high-rise frame-supported shear wall structure with high transfer floor at the fifth story was studied, the upper and lower of which are shear wall structure and frame-shear wall structure respectively. Because of some transfer beam-supported shear walls, the vertical stiffness of this structure is discontinuous. The characteristics of structural system, material selection, similitude relationship and simplified design of the model structure were introduced. The dynamic parameters, responses of acceleration and displacement of a 1/20 scale model under different level of 8 degree earthquake were studied. Its cracking pattern and failure mechanism were discussed as well. Then, the dynamic characteristics and the seismic responses of the prototype structure were deduced and analyzed based on the results of the test. The first three frequencies of the model are 5.101Hz (translation in X direction), 5.466 (translation in Y direction) and 7.652Hz (overall rotation) showed by the results. The corresponding periods of the first three modes of the prototype structure are 1.456s, 1.362s and 0.970s, then the ratio of the first rotation period to the first translation period is 0.66. The maximum inter-story drift ratios of frame-supported floors, transfer story and the structure upper of transfer story of prototype structure under rarely occurred earthquake are1/805, 1/317 and 1/145 respectively. The results as above mentioned show that the structure has good anti-seismic behavior and proper structure arrangement, which meet the requirement of no damage under frequent earthquakes and no collapse under rare earthquakes.
