Abstract:The necessity of considering the interaction between seismic response and ability for RC bridge pier is pointed out. The design process is initially established. The realization process of the finite element program is proposed. A new plastic-hinge element is developed based on the source code of Opensees of version 2.0.0. The numerical results show that the method in this paper can implement component skeleton curve with negative stiffness, so as to avoid the non-convergence difficulty caused by negative stiffness curve in the general finite element method. According to the comparison between experimental and numerical results, it can be found that the method shown in this paper can be used to simulate experimental phenomena under different loading patterns. These indicate that the method can real-time reflect the member state, and modify its ability according to response of the member. This is the way of considering the interaction between response and ability.
