In order to study the characteristics of ground vibration induced by low-medium speed maglev train, in-situ tests were conducted in a curve section of Changsha's first low-medium speed maglev train line in operation in China, and the result was compared to that of Beijing Metro Line 13. The results show that there is no cyclic peak in the vibration waveform of the maglev line because of the uniform force on tracks. In the maglev train, the characteristic frequency of the train-track system is less obvious but the dynamic properties of the bridge are obvious, generated by the separation of wheel system and the track system. Due to the separation of the wheel and the track and limited impact of track irregularity , low-medium speed maglev train has obvious advantage of ground vibration in 30~80Hz, which mainly comes from the vibration of the guide rail and the track beam ,as well as line irregularity. On the range of 10 m to 40 m, the VLz,max of ground generated by the maglev is over 4dB lower than that of the elevated line at the same position, and maglev line meets the vibration limit value of the “measurement method of environmental vibration of urban area”.
